Michael Lane, Lighting Design
Lab
Michael Lane is the lead lighting specialist at the Lighting Design Lab
and has been with the Lab since its inception in 1989. He received
Bachelor of Architecture from Washington State University in 1982, and
has specialized in the lighting field for over 22 years. He has worked
for lighting design firms in New York City from 1982-1983, in Boston
from 1984-1985 & in Seattle with his own firm from 1986 until starting
at the Lighting Lab. Michael is a member of the IESNA and was in the
first class to be Lighting Certified (LC) by NCQLP. He also serves on
the IESNA Educational Materials, Sustainable Lighting & Energy
Management Committees, the ASHRAE 90.1 Energy Committee and the LEED
Sustainable Site Committee. As a lighting educator, Michael has taught
numerous classes locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. In
2004 he received the IESNA Meritorious Service Award and the Presidents
Award.
Eric E. Richman, Pacific
Northwest National Laboratory
Eric Richman is currently the chairman of the ASHRAE/IESNA 90.1 Energy
Standard Lighting Subcommittee and has been involved in the development
of the 1999, 2001, and 2004 versions of this standard. He has been with
Pacific Northwest National Laboratories since 1986 working primarily in
the areas of building energy efficiency and lighting application
research and maintains the PNNL sustaining membership in IESNA. He
received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State
University, has held the LC credential since 1997 and is LEED
accredited.
