ADVANCED LIGHTING SCHOOL

The IES is in the process of developing a series of new schools and classes. We at the Houston Section are anticipating these changes, therefore this new Advanced School is different from the ones you were used to in the past.  We are anticipating the form these new schools will take and created an application centered learning group. After assembling the new class structure we submitted it to Headquarters for approval and learned that this is the direction they are also leaning.  It is with great pride that we now offer these new classes. 

This new course, beginning March 31, 2010, will provide an advanced approach to the art and science of illuminating engineering and design, with professionals, active in all aspects of lighting as the instructors. 

The course will be offered for eleven Wednesdays in a row, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, and the final exam will take place on the twelfth Wednesday.  We only have places for 50 students, so early registration is recommended.

March 31     -  Lighting Design Process
                         Roundtable discussion to include an Architect, Engineer, Lighting Designer, Interior Designer & Electrical Contractor.

April 7          -  Lamp Technology
                          The newest and greatest in lamp technology

April 14        - Design and Construction of Luminaires
                         Including classification of luminaire light distribution

April 21        - How and What we See
                         Eye structure and physiology, How the eye reacts to light, learning to observe.

April 28        - Office Lighting

May 5           - Merchandise Lighting

May 12        - Educational Facility Lighting

May 19        - Lighting and the visual environment for Senior Living

May 26        - LED Technology, Design & Application

June 2         - Security Lighting

June 9         - Roadway Lighting

June 16      - Final Exam
