Diarmuid McSweeney is a Past President of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, (IES). He has held numerous committee, section and Society positions within the IES and is currently the Chair of the International Relations Committee for the Society, the immediate past chair of the Industrial Lighting Committee and is involved in the Centennial Conference schedules for January 2006.

He is a Fellow of the IES, a recipient of the Presidents award and the DSA and holds the NCQLP Lighting Certified (LC) designation.

Diarmuid has been with Holophane for 38 years where he has held a variety of positions in Optics, Training, Research and Development, Sales and Marketing, International, and Industrial Lighting. 

Diarmuid’s educational background includes Bachelor’s and Masters degrees in Physics from the Trinity College, University of Dublin, Ireland. He also holds an MBA degree form Xavier University, Cincinnati.

Diarmuid is married with three grown children and four grandchildren. He enjoys Platform Tennis, Sailing and Tennis.
