Outdoor Environmental
Lighting Speaker:
Diarmuid McSweeney
Based on
Holophane's popular "Environmental Lighting Guide," this presentation
addresses the issues of light trespass and light pollution and how to avoid
them while still providing for visibility through proper lighting system
selection. The IESNA's Recommended Practice RP-33-99, Lighting for Exterior
Environments, is also addressed, as well as the influence that local
standards can have on the design approach.

New Lamp and Indirect
Lighting Speaker: Carlos
Ruiz
The
fact that space can be designed for visual consumption is being increasingly
exploited for commercial purposes,
in the past few years, the lighting industry has enjoyed a
continuous flow of new lamp technologies that luminaries manufacturers have
been able to use in a wide variety of applications. Some of these new
sources address lamp life, some beam control, some energy efficiency and a
few try and combine all of these traits. This presentation will address the applicability of these new lamp
sources on the different indirect lighting systems available today.

Common
Lighting Issues (Health, Safety & Welfare) Speaker:
Larry McGough
"Common Lighting Issues" is a brief discussion
of issues relating to typical outdoor lighting projects. Topics include
lamp basics, outdoor lighting criteria, and the selection of appropriate
outdoor luminaires to meet changing lighting ordinances. The course is AIA/ASLA
certified for 1 hour of Health, Safety, and Welfare credit.
