The
purpose of this competition is to provide financial assistance to
students with an interest in the lighting profession and to promote the
education of lighting design.
Up to
three (3) scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each shall be awarded. A
plaque will also be given to the University or school in the student’s
name.
Eligibility requirements are as follows –

Student must be enrolled full-time with passing grades within the
IES Houston territory

Student should be pursuing a degree in Lighting Design, Interior
Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering or other
related professions
A floor
plan and details will be provided to applicants in both PDF and CAD
versions.
Project
submittals from the applicant shaill include the following:

A lighting design plan in 1/8” scale
-
A lighting fixture schedule including, but not limited to, fixture types
and lamp types
-
Illustrative
material demonstrating the lighting intent. If desired, this may include
sections, elevations, perspectives, details and fixture drawings
-
A
brief written statement of no more than one page about the objectives
and goals of the lighting design concept

Conceptual control scheme, if applicable
An
application form must be submitted to Jennifer Lacombe, Scholarship
Chair, to receive the floor plan and details.

All
final entries must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. June 1st,
2012 to Ms. Lacombe. The lighting design plan must be either
D or E size CAD or PDF files with all other information being submitted
in Word, Excel or PDF documents. Judging criteria will consider
maximizing energy efficiency and should adhere to IES guidelines. The
Scholarship Committee reserves the right to interview scholarship
finalists.
The
scholarship recipients will be chosen by the Scholarship Committee by
June 29, 2012.
